Whitewater Rafting
Persons wanting the ultimate sports adrenaline rush but not interested in performing some outlandish acrobatics in order to acquire it, may find exactly what they need in whitewater rafting. This is an extreme sport that you needn’t train extensively or give up your favorite meals or foodstuffs in order to enjoy. You can still watch your favorite late night television and you aren’t required to receive a minimum of eight hours of sleep in order to recuperate from muscle-conditioning workouts. Just go about your daily life as normal and in the meantime work at putting together your trip down the rapids.
There are several requirements, however, which you’ll need to follow in order to put together a successful trip. For one thing, rafting requires that you act as a team player. This means in order to engage in the extreme-style sport, you’ll need to find four or five friends who would also like to take a ride down one of the more famous rivers. Also it requires that you are mentally flexible. You need to know how using your left oar will affect the trip downriver and how using your right oar steers your boat. Also rivers generally run west to east and not north to south as most suppose. If you are directionally challenged, you may wish to take note. That said, the outfitter which you’ll need to contact (the whitewater rafting tour operator) will provide you with a brief filmed introduction of the river and what to expect prior to starting out.
Rivers are classified on a scale from one to five. Class one rapids means the waterways are a tad bit more exciting than the calmest body of water you can envision. Class five means the rivers are very exciting; and Class six are not part of the range because frankly they are too dangerous for the average Joe and further most outfitters will not allow you to travel down a Class six river. Probably somewhere in the middle is the river you’ll want to travel.
The river that is full of rushing water generally descends. This means along the way there are many dips and plunges that are unanticipated. This is sure to provide you with the thrill of a lifetime. If you aren’t coordinated enough for skateboarding, and you aren’t the type to assume a sport like hang gliding, then you may wish to capture the spirit of the Colorado River or similar type of whitewater rafting venue.
