Bass Fishing Lures

There are a lot of different factors that could help determine if you would become a great bass angler or not. Your bass fish catching success rate would have to rely on a lot of different aspects, from your level of bass fishing skill, to the type of gear that you are using when fishing for bass. All of these would have a say in improving your chances of catching bass in a consistent basis.

Although not a lot of people can develop a good bass fishing technique overnight, you can help improve your chances of catching bass fish by simply using certain bass fishing gears. One of the things that you can start with is simply adjusting the bass fishing lures that you are using when you fish. If you don’t know much about bass fishing lures, then fret not, for this article will provide you with some good advice on what lures to use and when to use them. Pretty soon, you would be able to improve your bass catching skills by simply following these simple facts about these bass fishing lures.

Flies

Flies are one of the bass fishing lures that a bass angler can use, and is considered by some as a very fun and exciting lure to use, as this type of lure can actually get a bass fish to come out of the water and go after the lure. This is a type of fly fishing for small mouth bass fish. This is not just limited to top water fishing, as there are subsurface flies with sinking lines that are being used to catch bass fishes in deep water using fly rods.

Swimbaits

One of the more realistic looking bass fishing lures that is available to bass anglers today is the swimbait, which takes the appearance and movement of a real-life forage fish, although they are made from plastic, and sometimes wood. This particular bass fishing lure has expanded the bass angler’s reach, allowing him to be able to fish for bigger bass fishes that dwell and forage in depths that used to be unattainable. Their size could vary from three to over twelve inches, and have the ability to mimic not just the look, but also imitate the movement of a forage fish. This is even more apparent in the hands of a skilled bass angler.

Jigs

Catching bigger bass fish would require a more versatile and effective lure, and that lure is the jig. The jig is a bass fishing lure that allows you to fish in almost any condition, whether it is in shallow water or in deep water, whether there is heavy cover or little to no cover. This particular lure can even be used on almost any water temperature, and is still relatively effective in most seasons, but is considered to be least effective in the summer. This lure is considered to be an effective lure because it has a high catch ratio of bass fishes. However, using this particular lure is not that easy to do, as it may require a lot of focus and skill on your part. If you want to be effective in using this type of lure, then you need to develop a sensitive touch.

Crank baits

Crank baits are actually a type of subsurface fishing plug that employs a wiggling motion of the bait to catch the attention of the bass fish. This wiggling motion is made possible by the lips on the flat or round lures. When the bass angler attempts to retrieve the lure, the shape of the lure and the design of the lips cause it to sway from side to side, giving a good fish-like movement for the bait.

Jerk baits

As the name implies, jerk baits are a type of lure that needs to be handled in a jerking motion in order to attract bass fish to take a bite out of the lure. Basically, when you attempt to retrieve the lure, you simply jerk the bait and pause, and repeat this type of movement for a couple of times in order to attract the deeper bass fishes.

Minnow baits

Minnow baits are actually a bit similar to crank baits in the sense that they also possess bills and lips like that of crank baits. These long and slim plugs are considered to be more realistic in appearance and in movement as compared to crank baits, and are more effective when used in cooler and clearer water.
